Our Speech and Language Therapist and team of Speech and Language Ambassadors, conducts assessments of pupils’ communication skills and cross references these with their EHCP. They then plan personalised one-to-one, group and classroom interventions to focus on learning skills and developing strategies to communicate. Speech & language therapy focuses on areas including vocabulary, comprehension, attention and listening, social communication, emotional literacy (using words to express feelings), receptive language (understanding spoken language), expressive language (using words to express ideas) and narrative (the ability to tell a story or series of events with precision and clarity). Lego Therapy and the PAT dogs are used to help make Speech and Language sessions fun and engaging.
We use the highest qualified Speech and Language Therapist who has a degree in Speech Pathology and Therapy Bsc. (Hons). They are also a registered member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT), the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP).
